Food Accessibility

Second Earth Farms aims to open up doors to food accessibility to Filipinos through a different method of farming – Aquaculture. Aquaponic farming has been used by some ancient civilizations, but has only recently been adapted and honed by modern technology a few decades ago. Now, even Filipinos who have no access to large pieces of land with good quality soil can try their hand at farming without breaking the bank. More access to quality vegetables means a healthier society!

Second Earth Farms started out as a hobby by its founder, Dr Ian Hizon. As a means of destressing from the very hectic life of a doctor, he found passion in gardening and was fascinated by nature and growth. He started out growing some mushrooms, plants and herbs. His passion for farming and innate drive to learn led him to take courses in Australia to formally study Aquaponics. It was there that he realized that aquaponic farming could provide Filipinos easy food access, food sustainability and food security to quality vegetables and herbs. As a father and a doctor, it is important to him to promote good health to every Filipino family. Thus, Second Earth Farms was born – sharing this fascinating way of accessible farming to you and your loved ones.
